Anyone who is preparing, serving, or handling food in a food service establishment needs a food handler’s permit. All food handlers must obtain a permit from a local health department before they are allowed to handle food which will be served to the public.
Easy Food Handlers is a State of Utah Department of Health Approved Provider
Any person that serves prepared food to the public needs a food handlers permit. This includes, for example, servers, cooks, food trucks and special events where volunteers serve food to the public.
Easy Food Handlers class is 75-minutes long, the shortest online class available in Utah. It is broken up into 5 sections and you can start and stop the class when you need to take a break.
Yes. We recommend you take notes and keep them with you if you ever have to refer to them.
You can print a temporary 30-day permit when you pass the class. Then, Easy Food Handlers will submit your information to your local health department and they will print and mail your 3-year permit to the address you typed in your profile. Your address will also be printed on your temporary permit, so if it is incorrect, please notify us immediately.
Unfortunately, since we are not responsible for mailing the permits, we have no information on when it is mailed out. However, the health departments are great in mailing the permits within the 30 days. If you have not received your permit in the mail, you must contact your local health department directly to inquire. A contact list for health department can be found here.
In Utah, you must renew your permit every three years. To renew your permit, you simply have to rewatch the class and take the state exam at the end.
This class covers food safety, according to the FDA food code. This includes personal hygiene, cooking temperatures, food storage and overall cleanliness requirements. In other words, our class will teach you how to serve food safety and kill the germs without killing your guests.
You must get a 75% or better to pass the food handlers exam. You have three tries and with our class, if you do not pass, you can see what questions you got wrong. In the State of Utah, if you don’t pass on the third try, you must repurchase the class and rewatch all the videos.
